COTAPSA vs TMP

Don't Be Fooled!! - the Toronto Municipal Professionals (TMP) is sponsored by and part of the Society of Energy Professionals (SEP), an aggressive American union attempting to organize and unionize the non union management employees of the City of Toronto.

COTAPSA believes that when attempts by the Society of Energy Professionals (SEP) to organize the non union management employees of the City did not yield the results the Society wanted, they tried a different tactic - to form an association called the Toronto Municipal Professionals (TMP).

TMP remains a part of the union - the Society of Energy Professionals.  Their goal has not changed - to organize and unionize as many non union management employees of the City of Toronto as possible.

COTAPSA is recognized by the City of Toronto as the legitimate representative of the non union management employees.  Neither the TMP nor the SEP is recognized by the City.

Contrary to what TMP says, COTAPSA has been advocating for a Framework Agreement for many years and continues to diligently pursue that goal on behalf of the non union management employees.

COTAPSA has succeeded with many issues with the City and will continue its efforts to achieve equity and equality for all non union management employees of the City of Toronto.

Don't Be Fooled Again!!

Contrary to what TMP claims, they did not secure the 2008 Re-earnable Performance Pay for all non union eligible staff. COTAPSA did.

COTAPSA has become aware that the Toronto Municipal Professionals, an affiliate of the Society of Energy Professionals, a union, is attempting to claim credit for this victory. To be clear, COTAPSA initiated this Complaint on behalf of the approximately 800 employees who are COTAPSA Members eligible to receive the re-earnable lump sum performance pay for 2008. Although they are attempting to claim otherwise, TMP never filed a Complaint. Their Counsel simply assumed carriage of the Complaint for approximately 20 employees about one year after COTAPSA initially filed the Complaint.

FYI

COTAPSA is formally recognized by the City of Toronto as the Association that represents the non union employees.

TMP is not recognized by the City of Toronto as the Association that represents the non union employees.
